Overview:

Rommel’s 7th Panzer Division had established a small bridgehead across the Somme, but the construction of a pontoon bridge was prevented by interdicting fire from the nearby town of Hangest. . . Self-propelled howitzers were brought forward to bombard the defenders, and an assault by motorcycle infantry was launched. The attackers slowly fought their way into Hangest, but the colonial infantry resisted fiercely even in the face of point-blank fire from the SP guns. . .
Attacker: German (Kradschützen Bataillon 7 / sIG Kompanie 705)

2026-04-01(A) Don Berg vs Solo German winFrench used a set-up from an AAR. German attack was based on article in the Annual '96. The sIGs dropped triple smoke on turn one, then on turn 2 DFPh rubbled the hex with 2 MG's and the best French leader. they were in the same hex, but different floors, trying to avoid the smoke. The next turn another hex was rubbled, but the falling rubble KIA'd a German squad as well. A German berserk squad held French fanatic squad and a hero in melee. The Germans reinforced the melee, but the French group survived 3-1 odds and whittled down the Germans turn by turn and came out victorious with a half squad and the hero surviving. Unfortunately for the French that was all that remained unbroken at the end of the game.
